Marilynn Clyne Hoenig and Jack Hoenig were previously widowed individuals who married in 1995. Both passed in 2020 after 25 years of marriage. Marilynn was previously married to Dr. John Clyne OB/GYN and together raised 10 children (John, Kurt, Pam, Becky, Jerry, Connie, Eric, Patrick, Dianna, and Tom) many of who attended Holy Family School and Pius X High School. Jack, a decorated WWII veteran, had two children (Jackie and Chic). He retired as general manager of National Manufacturing of Lincoln. Marilynn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved her faith and attended daily Mass. Although Jack was not Catholic he faithfully attended weekly Mass with Marilynn. Together, they volunteered for various organizations including St. Elizabeth Gift Shop, Bryan East, Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House (making beds), and Catholic Social Services Food Pantry preparing sacks of food. Both are survived by their children and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We are honored to hold this year’s memorial golf tournament in honor of Jack and Marilynn Clyne Hoenig.
Even if you are not an event participant, you may support the programs of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska by making a financial gift in memory of Jack and Marilynn. Hillcrest Country Club takes pride in its course's rich heritage. In 1929, U.S. Open champion Walter Hagen and French Open Champion Horton Smith were among the first to compete on the course designed by William A. Tucker Sr. Since then, many tournaments and events have been held at Hillcrest, including a contest between the legendary Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.
Large, established trees and out-of-town feel, set Hillcrest apart from today's newer courses. The 18-hole course boasts a nearly 600-yard par 5, a challenging pair of short par 3 holes, and practice facilities that include a 500-yard driving range, and beautifully-manicured putting and chipping greens. These amenities make Hillcrest a true golfer's course.
