CSS Memorial Golf Classic & Cookout

Tee up for "Hope in the Good Life"! Golf registration and sponsorships are now available for our 2025 CSS Memorial Golf Classic, to be held on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln.

Our 2025 Tourney will be held in memory of Tony Messineo.

Tony Messineo was more than a successful businessman and servant leader. With a deep devotion to his faith and family, Tony's legacy reaches far beyond the restaurant world, where his lasting impact continues to uplift lives.

In 1971, Tony and his brother Ron purchased Valentino’s, which, under their leadership and with the help of their cousin Mike Alesio, became a Nebraska staple. Tony’s passion extended beyond pizza. He also had a heart for charitable work, giving back to the people and causes he cared about most. Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska (CSS) is one of those causes that benefited from Tony’s support and vision.

He was a devoted advocate and supporter of CSS for decades. In 1988, Tony and his wife, Carmen, were the first chairs of what would become one of the most impactful events in CSS history—the Celebration of Caring banquet, now known as Celebration of Hope Gala & Silent Auction. What started as a modest gathering to support the work of Catholic Social Services has, thanks to Tony and Carmen’s leadership and enduring vision, grown into CSS’s largest annual fundraising event.

Even if you are not an event participant, you may support the programs of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska by making a financial gift in memory of our friend Tony. About Hillcrest Country Club

Hillcrest Country Club takes pride in its course's rich heritage. In 1929, U.S. Open champion Walter Hagen and French Open Champion Horton Smith were among the first to compete on the course designed by William A. Tucker Sr. Since then, many tournaments and events have been held at Hillcrest, including a contest between the legendary Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.

Large, established trees and out-of-town feel, set Hillcrest apart from today's newer courses. The 18-hole course boasts a nearly 600-yard par 5, a challenging pair of short par 3 holes, and practice facilities that include a 500-yard driving range, and beautifully-manicured putting and chipping greens. These amenities make Hillcrest a true golfer's course.
