National Volunteer Week | Groups gather for fun and fellowship

St. Louise Gift and Thrift has recently rolled out a new opportunity for volunteers: our Thrift & Sip evenings. On the first Monday of the month, groups of volunteers come to hang clothes and stock the sales floor - all while enjoying some wine and snacks. The volunteers also get first dibs on shopping the freshly stocked store - at half price!

We advertised this event in the Southern Nebraska Register prior to our first Thrift & Sip on February 2. We had lots of interest in the event, and spots filled up quickly. We’ve hosted three Thrift & Sip events so far, and have been joined by groups from Cathedral and St. John’s in Lincoln, as well as some from Crete and Steinhauer.

We host our Thrift & Sip strategically at the start of the first full week of the month, when the whole store is 50% off. During the half price week, we often sell three or four times the volume of clothing that we would on a normal week. So, it is important for us to get a head start for the week in our clothing department!

Our next Thrift & Sip events are on May 4 and June 1. If you or your group are interested in signing up, contact Caroline at cnebel@csshope.org.
