The annual Walk to End Hunger raises money and stocks the shelves of our CSS Food Market to help families struggling with food insecurity. Culminating on Saturday, August 8th at the Pius X High School track, the 2026 Walk to End Hunger was a huge success. The goal for this year’s event was to raise a combined 150,000 pounds of food/monetary donations/laps walked on the Pius X track. That goal was surpassed by bringing in $91,258.53 and 59,130 pounds of food. Added together, the total is 150,388.53 pounds of food/monetary donations.
Each year, there’s a friendly competition between the parishes to collect the most food. To give each parish equal footing, the total amount of food and cash collected by each drive is divided by the total number of families in that parish. This year’s winner was St. John the Apostle parish, followed closely by St. Peter and Blessed Sacrament.
Money and non-perishable food items are collected throughout the year for the Walk to End Hunger. Many Lincoln parishes hold food drives for the CSS Lincoln Food Market throughout the year, and monetary donations allow us to purchase food items in bulk. Donations can be made by clicking here.
Thank you to event organizer Mike Hosek, Better Life, the Knights of Columbus, our corporate sponsors and to all who donated, volunteered and participated in the 2026 Walk to End Hunger
